Off and Running

Check these guys out. They just got their cross country uniforms. George was wondering if there is a fabric shortage. He considered the briefs to be, well, brief. The guys are running for a CYO team Immaculate Heart of Mary. Their first meet is Saturday.

O'sain Bolt is ready!

Art Auction

In order to raise money for a playground at the boys school we held an art auction. We had artwork from students and local artists.

Abstract art

An awesome assemblage by local artist Kip Normand

The Sirens by Owen Henss.

We are happy to report that the auction was a huge success.

First day of school

Creatures of habit? You be the judge. Below are pictures of the boys on the first day of school for the past three years. Note, these were not choreographed for this purpose.

Wanna make a bet what next year's picture will look like?

Food Trade

You sometimes stumble upon the most curious and delictible of things when you're biking through the woods. When you're not certain they're edible, you don't eat them. You take them to someone who knows. Like the guy who runs your local fresh farmer's market.

And when he says they're chanterelle mushrooms, very delicious and very much desired by people who desire eclectic items like wild orange mushrooms, you trade them for a bagful of things you and your people desire. Like blueberries and farm fresh eggs and tomatos and fingerling potatoes.

Mushroom upside down cake can't hold a candle to blueberry upside down cake. Oh yeah.

Oh, did I mention we biked? It was great. Almost as good as the food.

Saturday at the race

This morning Bec, Owen and I drove downtown to do the Indiana Symphony Orchestra 5K with our trusty photographer George, and our undying fans, Mam and Bop.

We were quick out of the gate. The course started at Monument Circle, went out on Market Street and through slow neighborhood streets before we turned home down Meridian.

The finish, finally.

Owen started with his mother, but then hit his own pace. He's been training with a cross country team this past month, loving every moment. Lots of what they talk about is not going out too fast so you have something left at the tape. By the look of his locks, Owen had something left at the tape.

Becca finished, too.

All in all a fun day. We all placed in the top five in our age groups and Owen came home with a piece of hardware. A good start to the weekend.
